The CAFÉ CHORTI initiative was born in Guatemala in the early 2000s, out of a desire to unite two desires:

That of the producers being to produce good coffee and that of the consumers being to drink good coffee.

Chorti has evolved over the years, and in 2014 became a player in the social economy, with a distribution network based on a solid web of human ties.

Working as a cooperative has enabled us to forge direct bonds of trust between producers and consumers. In our view, this is the best guarantee of product and supply chain traceability.

ENHANCING THE VALUE OF PEOPLE

Our proposal is rooted in a different way of looking at relationships between human beings.

Growers' attachment to their plantations goes far beyond the economic aspect, as coffee growing is in large part their human culture.

A fair price means that growers no longer have to migrate many weeks a year in search of essential income, but can invest their labor in improving their production and their environment, while staying with their families and strengthening the social ties of their community.
